  1. I'm just getting caught up on this now -- wow! I remembered this little tidbit from a post on 8/3/2009...

Let's recall some of the following about Mercury:

An Olympian god, he is the "messenger of the gods" and is also the patron of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them, of thieves and road travelers, of orators and wit, of literature and poets, of athletics, of weights and measures, of invention, of general commerce, and of the cunning of thieves and liars.

His symbols include the winged sandals and the caduceus. He’s Hermes to the Greek and the Homeric Hymn calls him the "bringer of dreams, a watcher by night, a thief at the gates, one who was soon to show forth wonderful deeds among the deathless gods." He’s an inventor of fire, calling to my mind the prophecy in Revelation 13:13 about the False Prophet ("he performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men."), and he also was said to be the inventor of the lyre, a stringed instrument, which just blows the mind given what we know about Satan, right? I mean, Ezekiel 28:13 tells us "the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created."

But here’s where my jaw hit the floor because it’s relevant to everything we’re talking about when it comes to Apollo especially in regards to Apollo’s ascent out of the Bottomless Pit –Hermes slash Mercury slash Apollo was said to be an escort for the dead to help them find their way to the afterlife, or the Underworld in the Greek mythology!
