    It also reminds me of a compass rose - pointing north west?

    North west is 315 degrees - the ship looks like it is pointing a little less than 315 - perhaps 311 - ie 311 = March 11 - Fukushima or New Madrid bombings

    Another thought is that the ship could be pointing to something on the zodiac.
